Dr. Robert C. Wilson, D.D.S.

Since his childhood in Albion, Nebraska, Dr. Bob was always interested in the field of Medicine and was drawn to dentistry because of its combination of medical science and artistry.  After graduating from the University of Nebraska, he attended Creighton School of Pharmacy before obtaining his Doctorate from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry.  He is also a certified Hospital Dentist on the Medical Staff at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital.

Believing a dentist’s education shouldn’t stop after he’s finished school, he continues to devote many hours to learning about the latest dental advances.  Dr. Bob has been a pioneer in introducing the newest technology for his patients in the State of Nebraska.  He was the first doctor in the state to use intra-oral cameras and videos, cosmetic imaging, surgical lasers, laser cavity detection, digital radiography, and the interactive Casey Patient Education System.

His leadership in professional groups is yet another way he stays up-to-date on the latest dental care.  His is past president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer of the Adams County Dental Society.  He is past president (two terms) for the Nebraska Southwest Dental District.  He has served as a trustee and delegate to the Nebraska Dental Association and as an alternate Delegate to the American Dental association.  He has also been involved with his alma mater as a faculty and volunteer faculty member and Dean’s Advisory Committee member.  Currently he is a Preceptor for the UNMC College of Dentistry.

Dr. Bob’s experience is second to none.  In addition to his Omaha practice, he maintains the Nelson Dental Clinic in Nelson, Nebraska.  He has lectured and trained people in laser technology and surgery techniques nationally and internationally.  He has recently attended the Prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and over the years has trained with some of the top Cosmetic Dentists in the world.  It is his honor to pass this knowledge and skill on to you when he sees you as a patient.

What do you like about your job?
I enjoy working with a great staff that makes the job interesting as well as fun. I like learning a little something about each patient and can sometimes learn something new from them, since everyone has different interests.

What is special about this office?
Working is a smaller, up-to-date office allows us to get to know our patients easier. It is also neat to see several generations of the same families that come here.

What do you do to help patients feel relaxed and comfortable?
I visit with them when they first come in and welcome any questions they may have.

Family info:  Originally from Hastings, I now live in Aurora. I have a son & daughter-in-law living in New York. Although I am a dog person, I have a yellow Tabby cat that I have a lot of fun with. I love taking pictures, much to the dismay of some of my family and friends. I enjoy taking a variety of photos, especially in nature.

Education/background: I was an “older student” when I went to hygiene school, at Central Community College in Hastings. I’ve been a hygienist for a little over 13 years now.

What do I like about my job?

I love the people!  It is so interesting setting down and talking to people about life, love, hardships, lessons learned , happiness, sadness, health , family or anything that comes to mind.  I have learned so much through the years about how to be a stronger, better, wiser person from my patients!  I also enjoy helping others.  The hands-on, one-one aspect of my job allows me to witness directly how we have helped patients.  That is a great reward!  Lastly, the mental stimulation, I am always learning through experience and continuing education.

Starting at age 16 through high school graduation, I worked for my family dentist.  That job consisted of aiding the secretary assisting the hygienist, sterilizing instruments, developing radiographs, and setting up room.  Immediately following high school I started hygiene school in Colby, Ks.  Graduation from hygiene school in 2001, I moved to southwest Ks.  There I practiced full time in Garden City for 3 years, then full time in Lakin for the last 9 years.  In July of 2013 I moved to Jewell, Ks and married a local farmer.  Now I am enjoying my position here in Nelson, NE and loving every minute of it.
